Alumnae Outcomes: Five- and Ten-Year Follow-Up Studies

The ACT Alumni Outcomes Survey has been administered to eight Meredith graduating classes - four at the 5-year-out period and four at the 10-year-out point.  The Alumnae Outcomes reports on the web include the Introduction to the complete publication of results available in the Office of Research, Planning and Assessment and links to the various survey components in Section III.

Section III allows the viewer to see responses of all of the ten-year out classes surveyed, and their average response rate when appropriate.  Similarly, data for all of the five-year out classes surveyed are presented.  It is then possible to compare graduates' responses at each of these points in time on any items of particular interest to the viewer.  The report is available by clicking here (password protected).

The survey tracks data on alumnae characteristics, employment, educational outcomes and experiences.  Any questions can be directed to the Office of Research, Planning and Assessment.

CIRP

The Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) survey has been completed by traditional-aged students at Meredith each year since 1995. The CIRP survey collects data about student characteristics such as age, average high school grade, miles from college to home, advanced placement courses, hours per week spent in various activities, and much more. It also collects data about student attitudes, such as reasons students cited as very important in deciding to go to college, probable major field, important objectives, and so on.

Various (password-protected) reports about student characteristics and attitudes are available to Meredith faculty and staff. Included are selected items from a ten-year trend report on Meredith students' responses to questions on the CIRP Freshman Survey, which is administered to entering freshmen during orientation. The entire ten-year trend report is also available in hard copy.

CIRP Presentation (Spring 2005):  Who Are Today's Students?

A presentation, entitled "Who Are Today's Students? Using CIRP Survey Results To Understand Today's Entering Freshmen" is available to faculty and staff.  This report was presented in Spring 2005.

Common Data Set

The Common Data Set (CDS) initiative is a collaborative effort between publishers and the educational community to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student's transition into higher education, as well as to reduce the burden on colleges of compiling and reporting information. The goal is to develop clear, standard questions and definitions to determine the specific cohort to which each question relates, while refraining from the compilation of a single survey instrument or universal set of survey questions.

Graduation Rate Survey (for Student Right-to-Know Act)

In accordance with federal Student Right-to-Know guidelines, Meredith College has prepared a report entitled "Outcomes--Educating Women to Excel," detailing the graduation rates of students who entered as first-time, full-time freshmen in Fall 2000.  It also gives the four-year average graduation rates at Meredith for classes entering in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001.  Printed copies of the graduation rate report may be obtained by any prospective or enrolled student, parent, faculty, staff, or community member, either from our office or from any of the following offices on the Meredith campus:  Office of Admissions, 23+ Program Office, and Office of the Registrar.
